If you are on the Adkins diet, they you need to eat foods that are low in carbohydrates. You also have to regulate the amount of carbohydrates you eat on a daily basis in order to experience and maintain weight loss. This is not as hard as it seems because with the popularity of this diet many foods are now available to help you and many fast food outlets are also adapting to the change in the diet of most people.

The Adkins diet is one of the most popular diets today. You see results within the first week and this motivates you to continue on the diet plan. There are several phases to this diet. The hardest one to accomplish is the first two-week phase, which is called the Induction Phase. During the Induction phase, your body gets a kick-start into the lipolysis/ketosis stage, which increases your body’s metabolism to one that concentrates on burning up the stores of fat in the body. It switches from burning the carbohydrates you eat in your food, because you have reduced the amount you eat, to the fat that you have stored through eating extra calories the body didn’t need. 

The Induction phase of the Adkins diet helps to stabilize your blood sugar and also reduces fatigue and mood swings. It helps reduce your cravings for carbohydrate rich food and helps you break the habit of eating sweets containing starches. You will actually lose weight without feeling hunger because you can eat as much as you want of the foods that are high in protein. 

The Adkins diet works on the fact that protein adds lean muscle mass to your body. Muscle helps to burn the calories stored as fat even when you are not exercising because they need so much more energy in order to function. You should never stay on the Induction phase for more than fourteen days because it is intended only to get you started on a lifelong plan of good eating.
