The Aitkens diet is the top rated high protein low carbohydrate diet that people swear by for great results in weight loss. A cardiologist named Dr. Robert Atkins developed this diet. He published a book called “Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution” in which he detailed a diet that would help people guard against the onset of heart disease and diabetes.

Many people think that with the Aitkens diet you should cut carbohydrates out of your diet. In fact the diet acknowledges that carbohydrates are an essential part of any diet and you do eat some carbs while on this diet plan. For the first two weeks, you severely limit the number of carbohydrates you consume in order to give your body’s metabolism the boost it needs to start burning up the fat already stored in the body. Then you gradually increase the number of carbs until you reach a level where you are no longer experiencing any weight loss. A simple reduction of the carbohydrates will put you right back on track.

Many people love the convenience of the Aitkens diet. They can eat all the meats and fats they want and as often as they want. It seems to be a weight loss plane without feeling the hunger experienced with other diets. As with any other diet, you have to exercise to build up muscles and you have to drink plenty of water to flush out your system.

The Aitkens diet is the one that shows the results the fastest. Within two weeks most people experience a dramatic weight loss and this gives them the motivation they need to keep going. In fact most people become more concentrated on losing weight and sticking to the diet when they see the quick results.
