The Atkins diet book was first published in 1972 by Dr. Robert Atkins, a cardiologist. The book was named the Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution and it did start a revolution in the way people began to diet and lose weight. The diet book explains the why and how of the diet as well as how restricting the amount of carbohydrates in your diet will help to prevent heart disease and diabetes. Dr. Atkins also published other books on the subject, which became best sellers – selling more than 15 million copies worldwide.

The Dr. Atkins diet book will tell you all the foods that you can eat on this diet. It explains the different phases of the diet from getting started to maintaining the weight loss you experience. There are tips for getting started and staying motivated as well as tips for adding exercise to the weight loss program.

The Atkins diet book gives the number of carbohydrates in food, allowing you a choice in the food you want to eat to meet your daily allotment. There are also sample menus for the initial two-week period as well as menus for you to choose from for the ongoing weight loss. If you like cooking, there are also many recipes for you to try that will still allow you to din in style and stay on the diet.

The Atkins diet book is a great reference for anyone on this diet. If you are in doubt about a certain food, you only have to turn to the list of foods to see how many carbohydrates it contains. Many people start using the book by listing all the foods that do not contain carbohydrates, but you have to remember that the foods you eat need to be high in protein in order for weight loss to occur.
