The cabbage soup diet is just another diet regime in the long list of possible diet plans that you can follow. This diet plan promises that you can lose up to ten pounds in just seven days. This seems like the perfect diet for those people wishing to lose a small amount of weight. This may be true but like the calorie-reduced diets it is not recommended that a person stay on the cabbage soup diet for a prolonged period of time.  

The cabbage soup diet is a low-fat high-fiber diet. However, there are some advantages and disadvantages to following this diet plan. The great thing about this diet plan is that you will lose weight fast and you as much of the soup as you want. As stated before this diet has only been designed for a seven day period and it should not be altered in any way or last longer than the seven days. It is basically just a kick-start to losing weight that is designed to get you motivated about your weight loss.  

The cabbage soup diet has been referred under other names as well. This many cause some confusion for some people, as they do not know what diet they are following. The cabbage soup diet has also been called the Mayo Clinic Diet as well. The diet itself is not linked to the Mayo Clinic in any way.  

The cabbage soup diet does not fall under the category of being a mainstream diet. It differs from most mainstream diets as it is a quick and last for a short period of time. Most mainstream diets are designed to last for a prolonged period of time and weight loss is usually slow instead of being almost instant like that of the cabbage soup diet.
